Understated with a tactile twist — wash the cotton, spare the leather.

Turn inside out and machine wash cold on gentle, with like colors.
Hang dry — a hot dryer stiffens and curls the leather patch.
Don't iron over the leather patch; press around it on low.
Avoid long soaks; in and out so the patch doesn't waterlog.
A little patina on the leather over time is part of the look.
